As part of the project Water-based adhesives in canvas paintings structural conservation, financed and coordinated by the Getty Foundation through the Conserving Canvas initiative, the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica carried out the structural restoration of the monumental canvases in the Throne Room of Palazzo Barberini in collaboration with CBC Conservazione Beni Culturali.
At the conclusion of the project, experts from all over the world discussed the problems and open questions of this crucial junction in the restoration of paintings at the online international conference WATER BASED ADHESIVES IN STRUCTURAL PAINTING CONSERVATION (October 17-20, 2022), curated by Chiara Merucci and Matteo Rossi Doria.
