{"id":3009,"date":"2025-11-25T10:12:57","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T09:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.barberinicorsini.org\/evento\/giorgione-from-budapest-to-rome\/"},"modified":"2026-02-05T18:33:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T17:33:16","slug":"giorgione-from-budapest-to-rome","status":"publish","type":"evento","link":"https:\/\/barberinicorsini.org\/en\/evento\/giorgione-from-budapest-to-rome\/","title":{"rendered":"Giorgione from Budapest to Rome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <strong>29 November 2025 to 8 March 2026<\/strong>,<strong> Palazzo Barberini<\/strong> welcomes an exceptional guest: the<strong><em> Portrait of a Young Man<\/em><\/strong>, also known as the <em>Portrait of Antonio Brocardo<\/em> and attributed to <strong>Giorgione<\/strong>, on loan from the <strong>Sz\u00e9pm\u00fcv\u00e9szeti M\u00fazeum \/ Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest<\/strong>. Painted around 1503, the work arrives in Rome as part of the exchange programme developed by the<strong> Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica<\/strong> with leading Italian and international institutions, offering the public a rare opportunity to encounter the art of one of the most enigmatic masters of the Venetian Renaissance.<\/p>\n<p>Donated to the Hungarian museum in 1836 by Archbishop J\u00e1nos L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Pyrker but originally from Venice, the <em>Portrait of a Young Man<\/em> preserves the aura of mystery so characteristic of <strong>Giorgione<\/strong>: questions remain regarding its precise date, the identity of the sitter, and the deeper meaning of the image. Despite these uncertainties, the painting stands as a testament to the artist\u2019s role in the development of Italian portraiture at the beginning of the sixteenth century.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>Palazzo Barberini<\/strong>, the painting enters into direct dialogue with the celebrated<em> Double Portrait<\/em> by the same artist, now housed at <strong>Palazzo Venezia<\/strong> and exceptionally loaned by<strong> VIVE Vittoriano e Palazzo Venezia<\/strong> as part of a collaboration agreement between the two institutions of the Ministry of Culture.
