Violence and Seduction in 16th and 17th Century Painting, <\/strong>curated by Maria Cristina Terzaghi.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition celebrates the fifty years since the acquisition by the Italian State and the seventies since the discovery of the famous painting by Caravaggio <em>Giuditta beheading Holofernes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The painting, created in Rome at the beginning of the Seventeenth Century, is kept in Palazzo Barberini.<\/p>\n<p>A series of masterpieces from all over the world,\u00a0 including the beautiful <em>Judith and Holofernes<\/em> by Artemisia Gentileschi,\u00a0 document the overwhelming novelty triggered by Caravaggio&#8217;s work in contemporary painting.<\/p>\n<p>Notice to the public: <strong>on weekends and public holidays reservation is mandatory<\/strong> to access to Palazzo Barberini and Galleria Corsini (including exhibitions). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tosc.it\/artist\/palazzo-barberini\/palazzo-barberini-gallerie-nazionali-darte-antica-905193\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">For Palazzo Barberini and Judith&#8217;s exhibition click here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Caravaggio and Artemisia: the Challenge of Judith.
